Theme: “Team up to Clean up!"
Awards are given at 1:15 p.m. on Earth Day at the gazebo. Please bring your group to listen to the announcements!
* Judges will be on the parade route. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in each of the following categories:
Best Spirit Award
The school that exhibits the most spirit in the parade- chanting, singing, or saying a cheer about the theme.
Best Visual Aids
Have your class or group create a visual aid for the parade that coincides with our theme. This "float" should be colorful and large enough for the viewing audience to see and read, but lightweight enough to be carried by a few children or pulled on a wagon. Make it a challenge and a classroom project that will promote teamwork. Remember to have students look for "reusable" materials rather than buy new things. Display your float in the school lobby prior to Earth Day to raise awareness for protecting and enhancing our environment.
Best Costume
Have the students create costumes to wear in the Earth Day parade. This may be in the form of a head piece, a mask, or a whole body costume. The entire group may dress alike. The costume should reflect the theme. If whole group dresses alike then select one student to represent your school in the Costume Walk at 11:00 AM at the gazebo prior to parade.
Best Theme
Students from your school should come up an overall design that involves this year's theme. Encourage the students to learn as much as possible about the theme and display this in the parade.
Thank you for taking the time to make the parade a fun time for participants and spectators!
