Dr. Doug Phillips: Discovering AlabamaAuntie Litter, Inc. is dedicated to providing environmental education to the general public, particularly children. Our goals and objectives are to:
- Increase public awareness of the dangers posed to the environment
- Educate youth about the importance of eliminating litter, conserving natural resources, and practicing the environmental 3 R’s – reuse, reduce waste, and recycle
- Motivate people to take pride in Alabama by protecting our environment
- Expand our geographic reach to serve a greater number of constituents
- Create a lasting network for environmental education and awareness
- Influence the next generation to be good stewards of the environment
In conjunction with Auntie Litter, Inc., the Take Pride Statewide Committee would like to recognize those communities and individuals who are making a difference in protecting the natural environment and the health of Alabama’s citizens. The Committee will select first, second and third place for the program categories listed below and for one volunteer or group of volunteers who provided outstanding service to your community.
Programs will be judged on uniqueness and results. Please include quantitative data, such as numbers of participants, amount of recycled materials, methods used for reaching and teaching children, etc. Collateral materials (photos, printed pieces, press clippings, etc.) may accompany your nomination.
